Despite the fact that the Ziton ZP3 panel looks like it belongs in a museum, I still think they excel in capabilities compared to that of their main stream competitors. I guess you would say that I would think that since I have been carrying out international training on the Ziton ZP3 panel's for over 20 years!
The ZP3 panels are quirky!
If you are an experienced fire alarm engineer and have worked on the likes of Advanced, Morley, Notifier, or C-Tec to name but a few, you can probably navigate around any of the other systems mentioned without much trouble.
Not with a Ziton ZP3! It has a unique, some would say quirky, way of working. Not with just it's terminology, but it involves a completely different view point for analogue fire alarm systems.
The Ziton ZP3 panels are not really designed for small systems. The menu system itself is vast. The skill set of a ''dungeon and dragons master is needed to navigate it blindly without any Ziton ZP3 training.
What is great about the Ziton ZP3 is that you can do practically any task straight from the front menu without the need of the software. Although, I would not recommend that with complex tasks.
Planner Software - More retro than 'Stranger Things'
The Ziton Planner for Windows software looks like something straight out of the 80's! (cue the 'Stranger Things' theme tune). But do not let that fool you as it is a powerful program that is easy to use once you know how.
It's beauty is in it's simplicity. After a few hours of training you are good to go. Having said that, you do need to know the basics of how a Ziton ZP3 panel operates.
Cause & Effect
What sets the Ziton ZP3 system apart from any other is the programming capability, especially the input/output mapping. Think of input/output mapping as cause and effect programming and you are only limited by your imagination on what you want these panels to do!
Good luck to the crazy fool who tries to navigate this juggernaut of a task without any Ziton ZP3 training. The ZP3 panels out of the box do not come with any re-programming on what input devices (detectors, MCP's, etc) do to output devices (addressable sounders, relays, etc). You have to program it in. If it is not programmed - it is not happening!
Its now Post Covid and the world has gone online
During the covid lockdown I was forced to take my training online. Almost immediately I was having engineers from all over the world joining my online Ziton ZP3 training course.
I must admit, the first few training days I did were a little bit clunky as I navigated my way around the different technology to use, but I got better and better at learning what works and what does not online. I now have a professional camera system set up with multiple angles including one pointed at the panel screen.
Online training works so well that I have not gone back to the traditional in person face to face training. Weirdly, online feels more personal to each engineer and I can train multiple companies is one session. This saves on time and travelling costs charged to the company.
So, not only is online Ziton ZP3 training as good as in-person, in many ways it is better!
It has never been so easy!
No matter where you are in the world, from Lima to Leicester (I know, shocking), It has never been so easy to book yourself or your engineers onto a Ziton ZP3 training course.
